It Is Time!!!!

Well the day is here and yes of course it has been an adventure already. As I type Toni is in the bed next to me, hooked up to all sorts of machines to monitor her and baby. The nurses come in to check on her and she is trying to catch some Z’s.

They are telling us that Brody will be here in the morning. He is being a pain just like his Mommy was when she was born. Of course he had to make an entrance because his planned delivery day was supposed to be on Tuesday morning since Toni’s fluid has been low. He felt it was time to meet the world.

It all started around 1 PM while I was at work, of course working diligently. Toni sent me an instant message saying she just had a really bad cramp and a gush of fluid which she thought was her not being able to control her bladder. We were both questioning what it was and asked around to see if anyone could describe the sensation of a womans water breaking.

Since we could not decide I told her to call the doctor and let me know what they said. Sure enough they told us to come into the office to be checked out. I rushed home after wrapping up at work and we hopped in the car after letting the puppy out, setting off on the journey to the doctors office.

When we got there Toni was in pain again, cramping and we were rushed right into a room. A nurse preformed an exam and sealed the deal by telling us her water had broke and she was around three to four centimeters dilated.

A wheel chair was brought in and they rolled her off, with me in tow to the other tower where the matirinity ward was located. The set her up in the birthing suite and so began the endless visits from nurses and the doctor.

We have been making and recieving calls left and right from everyone. For those of you that are home and reading I will try to write another blog after Brody arrives to keep you updated. My parents are now on the road and making their way here to join us in the morning. The in-laws will hopefully be leaving some time tonight or in the morning as well.

As for Toni, she is quite comfortable as she can’t really feel the lower half of her body. She was given her epidural and took it like a champ. There was a little trouble with her blood pressure after which we were informed can happen. The gave her a couple doses of another drug to counteract it as they rolled her from side to side to see where the baby would be most comfortable. A little oxygen and moves from left side to right side and back again and Mommy and baby stabilized.

She is working through the contractions and we have our fingers crossed that Brody arrives healthy and painlessly. I will keep you all updated.
